গাইবান্ধার সাঘাটা উপজেলার জাঙ্গালিয়া গ্রামে মো. মোখলেছুর রহমানের জমি পূর্ব শত্রুতার জের ধরে একই এলাকার আমিনুল ইসলামের ছেলে শহিদুল্লাহ ও তার লোকজন জমি দখল নিয়ে তার ঘরবাড়ি ভাংচুর ও গাছপালা কর্তন করে মালামাল লুট করে হত্যার চেষ্টা চালায়।
এই ঘটনায় পুলিশ থানায় মামলা না নেয়ায় কোর্টে একটি মামলা দায়ের করা হয়। মামলা করার কারণে সন্ত্রাসীরা আরও বেপরোয়া হয়ে ওঠে। এর প্রতিকার দাবিতে শনিবার গাইবান্ধা প্রেসক্লাবে এক সংবাদ সম্মেলন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
সংবাদ সম্মেলনে মোখলেছুর রহমান লিখিত বক্তব্যে উল্লেখ করেন, শহিদুল্যাহ, আমিনুল ইসলাম সহ তাদের সন্ত্রাসী বাহিনী দ্বারা জমি দখল করে। এ ঘটনার প্রতিবাদ জানালে সন্ত্রাসীরা তাদের লোকজন দিয়ে গত ৩ সেপ্টেম্বর তার বাড়ি ঘেরাও করে ব্যাপক ভাংচুর চালিয়ে বাড়িঘর উচ্ছেদের হুমকি দিয়ে তার পরিবারকে হত্যার চেষ্টা চালায়। এসময় তার বাড়ির মালামালসহ প্রায় সাড়ে ৫ লক্ষাধিক টাকার ক্ষতিসাধন করে। শুধু তাই নয়, ওই সন্ত্রাসী বাহিনী তাতেও শান্ত না হয়ে দ্বিতীয়বার গত ১৫ সেপ্টেম্বর রাতে পুনরায় তার বাড়িতে হামলা চালিয়ে তার পরিবারকে আবারও হত্যার চেষ্টা চালায় এবং ভাংচুর করে। এছাড়াও দুদিন পর ১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর আবারও তারা হামলা চালিয়ে ব্যাপক ক্ষতিসাধন করে।
এসময় সে ৯৯৯ নম্বরে ফোন করলে সাঘাটা থেকে পুলিশের একটি দল এসে তাকে নিরাপত্তা দেয়। এতে ওই পরিবারটি সন্ত্রাসী বাহিনীর ভয়ে বাড়িঘর ছেড়ে অন্যত্র পালিয়ে বেড়াচ্ছে এবং মানবেতর জীবন যাপন করছে। এ ঘটনায় জেলা প্রশাসক, পুলিশ সুপার, সাঘাটা থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জসহ সংশ্লিষ্টদের বরাবরে ঘটনার প্রতিকারের দাবি জানান।
