নওগাঁর আত্রাই উপজেলার পাচুপুর ইউনিয়নের প্রত্যন্ত এলাকা জগদাস গ্রামের উদ্যোমী যুবক কবির হোসেন পুকুরে ঝিনুকে মুক্তা চাষ করে সাফল্য পেয়েছেন। পুকুরে মাছ চাষের পাশাপাশি মুক্তা চাষ ব্যাপক সাড়া ফেলেছে পুরো এলাকা জুড়ে। এই উদ্যোক্তাকে এলাকাবাসী প্রথমে পাগল হিসেবে আখ্যায়িত করলেও পরে তার এই সাফল্য দেখে ঝিনুকে মুক্তা চাষে আগ্রাহী হ”েছন অনেক বেকার যুবক। মুক্তা চাষে ঝুঁকি কম ও লাভজনক। মুক্তা চাষে আগ্রহী উদ্যোক্তাদের সার্বিক সহযোগিতা দেয়ার কথা জানিয়েছেন মৎস্য কর্মকর্তা।
কবির হোসেন ফ্রি-লান্সার হিসেবে কাজ করতেন। করোনা ভাইরাসের প্রাদুর্ভাবে তিনি কাজ হারিয়ে দিশেহারা হয়ে পড়েন। বাড়িতে বসে অলস দিনযাপন করছিলেন। এ সময় ইউটিউবে ঝিনুকে মুক্তা চাষের একটা সাফল্যময় গল্প দেখে তিনিও উৎসাহিত হয়ে পড়েন। প্রয়োজনীয় প্রশিক্ষণ গ্রহন করে জগদাস গ্রামেই একটি পুকুর লীজ নিয়ে মাছ চাষের পাশাপাশি ঝিনুকে মুক্তা চাষের প্রকল্প হাতে নেন। তার এ পুকুরে গিয়ে দেখা যায় পুকুরের পানিতে তিন ফুট পর পর ভাসছে ফাঁকা প্লাষ্টিকের বোতল। সেখানে পানির এক ফুট নিচে রয়েছে একটি করে প্রøাষ্টিকের ডালা। সেসব ডালার প্রতিটিতে রয়েছে ২০টি করে জীবন্ত ঝিনুক। এ ভাবে তিনি ঐ পুকুরে প্রায় ৮ হাজার ঝিনুক বিশেষ প্রক্রিয়ায় চাষ করছেন। ঐ ঝিনুকের মধ্যে প্রতিটিতে কমপক্ষে দু’টি করে বিভিন্ন ডিজাইনে নিউক্লিয়াস প্রতি¯’াপন করা হয়েছে। একটি নির্দষ্ট সময়ের ব্যবধানে এসব ঝিনুক থেকেই উৎপাদন হ”েছ বিভিন্ন ডিজাইনের মুক্তা। কবির হোসেন জানান এই ৮ হাজার ঝিনুকের মধ্যে বিভিন্ন ডিজাইনের প্রায় ১৫ হাজার নিউক্লিয়াস প্রতি¯’াপন করেছে। প্রায় এক বছরে এসব ঝিনুক থেকে পাওয়া যাবে কমপক্ষে ১৫ হাজার মুক্তা। পুকুর লীজ, ঝিনুক সংগ্রহ, পরিচর্যা, নিউক্লিয়াস ক্রয় ও সং¯’াপন ইত্যাদি বাবদ মোট খরচ হয়েছে প্রায় ১৫ লক্ষ টাকা। এই এক বছরে ঐ ঝিনুক থেকে উৎপাািদত মুক্তা ২২ থেকে ২৫ লাখ টাকায় বিক্রি হবে বলে তিনি প্রত্যাশা করছেন। ইতমধ্যে ঝিনুক সংগ্রহের সময় হয়ে গেছে। এসব মুক্তার বাজার রয়েছে ভারতের কলকাতায় এবং বাংলাদেশে আড়ং নামের একটি প্রতিষ্ঠানে।
এদিকে কবিরের সাফল্য দেখে তার সাথে মুক্তা চাষে যোগ দেন গ্রামের আরও ২০ বেকার যুবক। ইতোমধ্যেই গ্রামটি এখন মুক্তা চাষির গ্রাম হিসাবে পরিচিতি পেয়েছে। জগদাস গ্রামের আবু বাশার ও মানিক নামের দুই উদ্যোক্তা জানিয়েছেন কবিরের সাফল্য তাদেরও মুক্তা চাষের দিকে আকৃষ্ট করেছে। ইতিমধ্যে ঐ দুই যুবকসহ গ্রামের প্রায় ২০ জন বেকার যুবক ঝিনুকে মুক্তা চাষের ছ্টো ছোট প্রকল্প হাতে নিয়েছেন। তারাও আর্থিকভাবে লাভবান হওয়ার স্বপ্ন দেখছেন।
উপজেলা সিনিয়র মৎস্য কর্মকর্তা পলাশ চন্দ্র দেবনাথ বলেন, ইতিমধ্যেই উপজেরার বেশ কয়েকটি ¯’ানে মুক্তাচাষের সম্ভবনা উজ্জল হয়ে উঠেছে। ব্যপকভাবে সাড়া পরিলক্ষিত হয়েছে। মুক্তা চাষে ঝুঁকি কম ও লাভজনক। মানসম্মত মুক্তা চাষ করতে পারলে অধিক লাভবান হওয়া সম্ভব। তাই মানসম্মত মুক্তা চাষে আগ্রহী উদ্যোক্তাদের সার্বিক প্রশিক্ষণ ও পরামর্শ আমরা প্রদান করছি।
