বিএনপির মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীরের তীব্র সমালোচনা করে গণস্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ডা. জাফরুল্লাহ চৌধুরী বলেন, বেচারা বাড়ির চাকর বাকরের মতো আছে৷ ভাবছে চাকরি চলে যাবে৷ তার বক্তব্যে আমার হাসি পেয়েছে৷ আমার বক্তব্যে তিনি মনঃক্ষুণ্ন হয়েছেন। এসব রাজনৈতিক কর্মীদের চাকরবাকরের গুণাবলীও নেই। তাদের না কব্জিতে জোর আছে, না মাথা ঘুরাবার অধিকার আছে।
শুক্রবার (১০ সেপ্টেম্বর) কেন্দ্রীয় শহীদ মিনারে বাংলাদেশ ছাত্র অধিকার পরিষদের নবগঠিত কমিটির কাছে দায়িত্ব হস্তান্তর অনুষ্ঠানে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।
ডা. জাফরুল্লাহ চৌধুরী বলেন, আমি তারেকের বদলে জাইমাকে ক্ষমতা দিতে বলিনি। আমি বলছি, তাকে রাজনীতি শিখতে দেন। সে তরুণ আছে, তাকে রাজপথে আসতে বলেন। রাষ্ট্রের দায়িত্ব নিতে হলে রাজপথে হাঁটতে হয়।
প্রসঙ্গ, চলতি মাসের ২ সেপ্টেম্বর বিএনপির ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমানকে দায়িত্ব দেওয়ার প্রক্রিয়ার সমালোচনা করেন ডা. জাফরুল্লাহ চৌধুরী। তিনি বলেন, ‘বিএনপির গঠনতন্ত্র মেনে তারেক রহমানকে এই দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়নি। পরে ৬ সেপ্টেম্বর এক সভায় জাফরুল্লাহ চৌধুরীর বক্তব্যের সমালোচনা করে বিএনপি মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর বলেন, জাফরুল্লাহ সাহেবের বয়স হয়েছে। তিনি অত্যন্ত সম্মানিত ও গুণী-জ্ঞানী মানুষ। কিন্তু বয়স হয়ে গেলে মানুষ কিছু উল্টাপাল্টা কথা বলতেই পারেন।
অনুষ্ঠানে আরও বক্তব্য রাখেন ডাকসুর সাবেক ভিপি নুরুল হক নুর, গণসংহতি আন্দোলনের সমন্বয় জোনায়েদ সাকি, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় আইন বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যান অধ্যাপক ড. আসিফ নজরুল প্রমুখ।
