মাদারীপুরের কালকিনিতে বড় ভাইকে হত্যার অভিযোগে কালাম বেপারী নামে এক ব্যক্তিসহ তিনজনকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। এর আগে এ ঘটনায় হত্যা মামলা করেন নিহত ফালান বেপারীর ছোট ছেলে সজীব বেপারী। পরে শুক্রবার সকালে ঢাকার বিভিন্ন এলাকা থেকে তিনজনকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়।
বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে কালকিনি থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) ইসতিয়াক আসফাক রাসেল বলেন, মাদারীপুরের কালকিনি উপজেলার সাহেবরামপুর ইউনিয়নের আন্ডারচর গ্রামে বৃহস্পতিবার দুপুরে পাওনা দশ হাজার টাকা চাওয়ায় ছোট ভাই কালাম বেপারীর লাঠির আঘাতে বড় ভাই ফালান বেপারী (৬৫) মারা যায়। এই ঘটনায় নিহতের ছোট ছেলে সজীব বেপারী রাতেই চারজনকে আসামি করে হত্যা মামলা করেন। মামলাটি আমলে নিয়ে তথ্যপ্রযুক্তির সহযোগিতায় ঢাকার বিভিন্ন এলাকা থেকে অভিযুক্ত কালাম বেপারী, তার ছেলে রাজিব বেপারী ও রাজিব বেপারীর স্ত্রীকে গ্রেপ্তার করে পুলিশ। এই মামলায় আরো একজন পলাতক রয়েছে। তাকেও গ্রেপ্তারের চেষ্টা চলছে।
স্থানীয় এলাকাবাসী ও স্বজনরা জানান, চার মাস আগে ফালান বেপারীর ছেলে শামীম বেপারীর থেকে তার ছোট চাচা কালাম বেপারী জমি বিক্রি বাবদ বায়না হিসেবে চৌদ্দ হাজার টাকা নেয়। কিন্তু চাচা জমির দলিল না দিয়ে চার হাজার টাকা ভাতিজা শামীম বেপারীকে ফেরত দেয়। কিন্তু বাকী দশ হাজার টাকা বেশ কিছু দিন হলেও ফেরত না দেয়ায় শামীমের বাবা ফালান বেপারী গত বৃহস্পতিবার বেলা সাড়ে ১২টার দিকে তার ছোট ভাইয়ের কাছে পাওনা টাকা চাইতে যায়। এতে ক্ষিপ্ত হয়ে ছোট ভাই কালাম বেপারী লাঠি দিয়ে তার বড় ভাইয়ের মাথায় আঘাত করে। এতে ঘটনাস্থলেই ফালান বেপারী মারা যায়।
