পটুয়াখালীর কুয়াকাটা সমুদ্র সৈকতে ভেসে এলো আরও একটি মৃত ইরাবতি ডলফিন। শনিবার (২১ আগস্ট) সৈকতের ব্লক পয়েন্ট সংলগ্ন স্থানে ৭ ফুট দৈর্ঘ্যের ডলফিন দেখে জেলেরা সংশ্লিষ্টদের খবর দেন।
স্থানীয়রা জানান, জোয়ারের সঙ্গে ডলফিনটি সৈকতে ভেসে এলে তাৎক্ষণিক বিষয়টি কুয়াকাটা ডলফিন রক্ষা কমিটির ও সৈকত রক্ষায় কাজ করা ইকোফিশ-২ প্রকল্পের সদস্যদের খবর দেয়া হয়। পরে তারা ডলফিনটি সংগ্রহ করে মাটিচাপায় দেয়ার ব্যবস্থা করেন।
রফিক নামের স্থানীয় জেলে বলেন, ছয় ঘণ্টার ব্যবধানে একই প্রজাতির তিনটি মৃত ডলফিন কুয়াকাটা সৈকতের বিভিন্ন পয়েন্টে ভেসে আসে।
কুয়াকাটা ডলফিন রক্ষা কমিটির টিম লিডার রুমান ইমতিয়াজ তুষার বলেন, গতকাল দুটি ও আজকে (শনিবার) একটি মৃত ডলফিন সৈকতে ভেসে আসে। এগুলোর প্রতিটির গায়ে জাল আটকে আছে। এগুলো কী কারণে মারা গেল তা খতিয়ে দেখা দরকার।
ইকোফিশ-২ প্রকল্পের পটুয়াখালী জেলার সহকারী গবেষক সাগরিকা স্মৃতি বলেন, ডলফিনটি পচে যাওয়ার উপক্রম হয়েছে। তাই এটাকে দেরি না করে দ্রুত মাটিচাপা দেয়া হবে।
