নারায়ণগঞ্জের রূপগঞ্জে রূপসী এলাকায় ইউনাইটেড লেদার কারখানায় আগুন লেগেছে। নিয়ন্ত্রণে কাজ করছে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের ১৩টি ইউনিট।
বুধবার (৪ আগস্ট) দুপুর ১২টায় তিনতলা ভবনে এ আগুন লাগে বলে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের নিয়ন্ত্রণ কক্ষের ডিউটি অফিসার এরশাদ হোসেন এ তথ্য জানান।
তিনি বলেন, রূপসী এলাকার ইউনাইটেড লেদার ইন্ডাস্ট্রিতে এখন ফায়ার সার্ভিস কাজ করছে। প্রাথমিকভাবে আগুন লাগার কারণ ও ক্ষয়ক্ষতির পরিমাণ জানা যায়নি।
এর আগে, গত ৮ জুলাই বিকেলে রূপগঞ্জের হাসেম ফুড লিমিটেডের ৬ তলা কারখানা ভবনে আগ্নিকাণ্ডে ৫২ জন নিহত হয়েছেন। আহত হয়েছেন অন্তত ৩০ শ্রমিক। ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্সের ১৮ টি ইউনিট টানা প্রায় ৪৮ ঘণ্টা চেষ্টা চালিয়ে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে।
ওই ঘটনায় জেলা প্রশাসন, ফায়ার সার্ভিস, কলকারখানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন অধিদপ্তর পৃথক তিনটি তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন করে।
