রবিবার ( ২৫ জুলাই) দুপুরে মন্ত্রী যাত্রামুড়া এলাকায় স্লুইসগেট পরিদর্শন করেন। এসময় মন্ত্রী ,আধুনিক সাবমার্সিবল পাম্প বসানোর জন্য নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলা প্রশাসককে নির্দেশ দেন।
পরে তিনি স্লুইসগেট এলাকা ঘুরে দেখেন। এসময় তারাব পৌরসভার মেয়র হাছিনা গাজী, কাউন্সিলর মাহাবুবুর রহমান জাকারিয়া, আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা ফিরোজ ভুঁইয়া, আলহাজ্ব হাবিবুর রহমান হাবিব, রূপগঞ্জ উপজেলা যুবলীগ সেক্রেটারী মোস্তাফিজুর রহমান শাহীন উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
উল্লেখ্য অল্প বৃষ্টিতেই তলিয়ে যায় রূপগঞ্জের বেড়ি বাঁধের ভিতরের নিম্মাঞ্চল। ভোগান্তিতে পড়েন স্থানীয় বাসিন্দারা। বৃষ্টি হলেই উপজেলার মুড়াপাড়া, তারাব, গোলাকান্দাইল ইউনিয়নের অধিকাংশ এলাকাই পানিতে তলিয়ে যায়। পানিতে আটকে পড়েন বসবাসকারীরা। ভুক্তভোগিরা বলেন, পানি এলেই নিষ্কাশন। সারা বছর আর কোনো খবর নেই। স্থায়ী নিষ্কাশনের দাবি জানান তারা।
