কুড়িগ্রামের ফুলবাড়ী উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে ফাতেমা বেওয়া(৫২) নামের এক বিধবার মৃত্যুর পরে লাশ নিতে আসেনি তাঁর স্বজনেরা। অবশেষে বাংলাদেশ ছাত্রলীগ ফুলবাড়ী উপজেলা শাখা নেতৃবৃন্দের উদ্যোগে যথাযথ ধর্মীয় রীতি অনুসারে ঐ বৃদ্ধার লাশ দাফন কাজ সম্পন্ন করা হয়েছে।
ফাতেমা বেওয়া উপজেলার দাসিয়ারছড়া সমন্বয় পাড়া গ্রামের বাসিন্দা মৃত বানু মামুদের মেয়ে। উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে দীর্ঘ প্রায় তিন মাস চিকিৎসাধীন থাকার পরে ১৭ জুলাই শনিবার বিকেলে মারা যান ফাতেমা বেওয়া। মৃত্যুর পর খবর পেয়ে ফুলবাড়ী উপজেলা ছাত্রলীগের সাবেক সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক মেহেদী হাসান ফাতেমা বেওয়ার স্বজনদের সাথে বারবার যোগাযোগ করলেও তারা কেউই লাশ নিতে রাজি হননি।
মেহেদি জানান, বিধবার এক ছেলে ও এক মেয়ে আছে তারা দুজনেই বর্তমানে ঢাকায় গার্মেন্টসে কাজ করেন। আর তার দিন মজুর তিন ভাই বাড়ীতে থাকলেও টাকার অভাবে লাশ দাফন কাফনের খরচ জোগাতে না পেরে তারাও লাশ নিতে রাজি হননি। পরে আমি উপজেলা ছাত্রলীগের সদস্যদের সাথে নিয়ে লাশ দাফনের উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করি। উপজেলা যুবলীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক আবু বকর সিদ্দিক মিলন, সমাজসেবক মুকুল বিদ্যুৎ , মোজাফফর হোসেন, বাঁধন, ত্রিপুল আরমি, হারুন, জুয়েল, রফিকুল ইসলাম রফি ভাই দের সহযোগিতায় রাত দশটায় উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্স মসজিদ চত্বরে জানাজা শেষে ফুলবাড়ী কবরস্থানে নিয়ে গিয়ে লাশ দাফন কার্য সম্পন্ন করেছি।
