নারায়ণগঞ্জের রূপগঞ্জে সজীব গ্রুপের অঙ্গপ্রতিষ্ঠান সেজান জুস কারখানায় ভয়াবহ অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। অগ্নিকাণ্ডে স্বপ্না রানী (৪৫) ও মিনা আক্তার (৩৩) নামের দুই নারী নিহত হয়েছেন। এ ঘটনায় আহত হয়েছেন অন্তত ৫০ জন।
আহতের উদ্ধার করে স্থানীয় ইউএস-বাংলা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালসহ ঢাকার বিভিন্ন হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়েছে। এদের মধ্যে ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ (ঢামেক) হাসপাতালে ভর্তি রয়েছেন ছয়জন।
বৃহস্পতিবার (৮ জুলাই) বিকেল ৫টার দিকে উপজেলার কর্ণগোপ এলাকায় অবস্থিত ওই কারখানায় এ অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটে।
সন্ধ্যা সোয়া ৭টায় এ রিপোর্ট লেখা পর্যন্ত ডেমড়া, কাঞ্চনসহ ফায়ার সার্ভিসের ছয়টি ইউনিট আগুন নেভানোর চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে।
নিহতরা হলেন-সিলেট জেলার যতি সরকারের স্ত্রী স্বপ্না রানী ও উপজেলার গোলাকান্দাইল নতুন বাজার এলাকার হারুন মিয়ার স্ত্রী মিনা আক্তার।
রূপগঞ্জ থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) এ এস এম সাহেদ অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনায় দুইজনের মৃত্যুর বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন।
শ্রমিক ও প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, কর্ণগোপ এলাকায় অবস্থিত সজীব গ্রুপের অঙ্গপ্রতিষ্ঠান সেজান জুস কারখানায় প্রায় সাত হাজার শ্রমিক কর্মচারী কাজ করেন। সাততলা ভবনে থাকা কারখানাটির নিচতলার একটি ফ্লোরের কার্টন থেকে হঠাৎ করে আগুনের সূত্রপাত। এসময় আগুনের লেলিহান শিখা বাড়তে শুরু করে। এক পর্যায়ে আগুন পুরো ভবনে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে।
এসময় কালো ধোঁয়ায় কারখানাটি অন্ধকার হয়ে যায়। এক পর্যায়ে শ্রমিকরা ছোটাছুটি শুরু করেন। কেউ কেউ ভবনের ছাদে অবস্থান নেন। আবার কেউ কেউ ছাদ থেকে লাফ দেন। এসময় ঘটনাস্থলেই রানী ও মিনা আক্তার নামের দুই নারী নিহত হন।
ইউএস-বাংলা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালের দায়িত্বরত চিকিৎসক শাহাদাত হোসেনও মৃত্যুর বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী নিহত স্বপ্না রানীর মেয়ে শ্রমিক বিশা রানী বলেন, অনেক শ্রমিক কারখানার ভবনের ভেতরে আটকা রয়েছেন। তাদের বের করা না হলে সবাই মারা যাবেন।
