দীর্ঘ ৫ বছর পরে পটুয়াখালীর বাউফল উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে আলমতাজ নামক এক নারীর সিজারিয়ান অপারেশনের মধ্য দিয়ে সিজারিয়ান কার্যক্রম আবার শুরু করা হয়েছে। বিভাগীয় পরিচালক ডাঃ বাসুদেব ও পটুয়াখালীর সিভিল সার্জন ডাঃ জাহাঙ্গীর আলমের
অনুপ্রেরণায় বুধবার দুপুর ১ টার দিকে এ কার্যক্রমের উদ্ভোধন করা হয়েছে। এ সময়ে উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার পরিকল্পনা কর্মকর্তা ডঃ পিকে শাহা, ডাঃ আব্দুর রউফ, ডাঃ আক্তারুজ্জামান, ডাঃ এএসএম সায়েম, ডাঃ সাঈদ আহম্মেদ ও ডাঃ নুপুর আক্তার উপস্থিত ছিলেন। পরে ভর্তি হওয়া নুরাইনপুর গ্রামের আলতাজ বেগমকে দুপুর দেড়টার দিকে সিজারিয়ানের মধ্য দিয়ে ওই কার্যক্রম শুরু করা হয়। সিজারিয়ানে আলমতাজ কন্যা সন্তানের জননী হয়েছেন বলে জানান কর্তৃপক্ষ।
উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার পরিকল্পনা কর্মকর্তা ডাঃ প্রশান্ত কুমার সাহা বলেন, ২০১৬ ইং সালের পর চিকিৎসক সংকটে বন্ধ ছিল সিজারিয়ান কার্যক্রম। পরে গাইনী সার্জন পদে নুপুর আক্তার ও এ্যনেসথেসিয়ান পদে ডাঃ সাঈদ আহম্মেদ যোগদান করার পরে তাঁদেরকে প্রশিক্ষন দিয়ে আবার সিজারিয়ানকার্যক্রম চালু করা হয়েছে।
