রবিবার(১৯ সেপ্টেম্বর) বেলা আড়াই টায় বিরামপুর পৌর শহরের মির্জাপুর মোড়ে দিনাজপুর পল্লী বিদ্যুৎ সমিতি-২ এর বিরামপুর উপকেন্দ্র পার্শ্বে এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানায়, নিহত রুপক ছিলেন পেশায় একজন ওয়াইফাই টেকনিশিয়ান। সে সামিট কমনিকেশন ডিপা ক্যাবল টিভি নেটওয়ার্ক ভোবানীপুর, পার্বতীপুর, দিনাজুপর, কোম্পানির অধীনে কাজ করতে রবিবার (১৯সেপ্টেম্বর) বিরামপুর মির্জাপুর দিনাজপুর পল্লী বিদ্যুৎ সমিতি-২ এর বিরামপুর উপকেন্দ্রের পাশে ওয়াইফাই এর কাজ করতে আসে। মাটিতে পড়ে থাকা তার গোছানোর সময় ওয়াইফাই এর তারের সাথে কারেন্টের তার থাকা তারের সাথে বিদ্যুৎ স্পৃষ্ট হন। এসময় স্থানীয়রা গুরুতর অবস্থায় তাঁকে বিরামপুর উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নিয়ে আসলে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক ডাঃ জুলেখা বেগম তাঁকে মৃত্যু ঘোষণা করেন।
নিহত রুপক দিনাজপুর জেলার পার্বতীপুর উপজেলার সরকারপাড়া গ্রামের মাহাফুজার রহমানের ছেলে।
বিরামপুর থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ ( ওসি তদন্ত) মতিয়ার রহমান ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করে বলেন, বিরামপুর পৌর শহরের মির্জাপুর দিনাজপুর পল্লী বিদ্যুৎ সমিতি-২ এর বিরামপুর উপকেন্দ্রের পার্শ্বে ওয়াইফাই এর তারের সাথে কারেন্টের পড়ে থাকা তারের সাথে বিদ্যুৎ স্পৃষ্ট হয়ে রুপকের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। এ ঘটনায় বিরামপুর থানায় একটি ইউডি মামলা হয়েছে।
