টি-টোয়েন্টি বিশ্বকাপের প্রস্তুতি পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী হয়নি বলে স্বীকার করেছেন বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি) সভাপতি নাজমুল হাসান পাপন। একই সঙ্গে এটাও বলেছেন যে, সাকিব তাকে আশ্বস্থ করেছেন এবার বিশ্বকাপে বাংলাদেশের ভালো সুযোগ আছে।
শুক্রবার (১০ সেপ্টেম্বর) মিরপুরে সফরকারী নিউজিল্যান্ডের বিপক্ষে সিরিজের পঞ্চম ও শেষ টি-টোয়েন্টি ম্যাচ শেষে সাংবাদিকদের তিনি বলেন, ‘সাকিবের সঙ্গে আমার কথা হয়েছে। টি-টোয়েন্টি বিশ্বকাপ নিয়ে গত দেড় বছরে আমাদের যা যা পরিকল্পনা মাথায় ছিল তা ঠিকঠাক করতে পারিনি। অনেক দেশ কিন্তু করতে পেরেছে। এটাই আমাদের সমস্যা। দেশে কাউকে নিয়ে আসা কিংবা বিদেশে গিয়ে খেলা, এগুলো নিয়ে সমস্যা ছিল।’
কিউইদের বিপক্ষে শেষ ম্যাচটি খেলেননি সাকিব। তবে বিশ্রামে থাকলেও বিসিবি সভাপতির সঙ্গে স্টেডিয়ামে বসে পুরো ম্যাচ উপভোগ করেছেন। সেখানেই বিশ্বকাপ প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে তাদের দু’জনের মধ্যে কথা হয়েছে।
দেশের হয়ে টি-টোয়েন্টিতে সর্বোচ্চ রানের তালিকায় শীর্ষে রিয়াদ
পাপন বলেন, ‘প্রস্তুতি খুব একটা ভালো হয়েছে তা বলব না। তারপরও মনে করি কিছুটা করতে পেরেছি এবং সেটা ভালোভাবেই। সাকিব আমাকে বলেছে, এবার বিশ্বকাপে আমাদের ভালো সুযোগ আছে। সাকিবের মত খেলোয়াড় যখন বলে তার মানে দলের ওপর তারও আত্মবিশ্বাস আছে।’
