বৃষ্টি নেমে ময়লা-কাঁদায় একাকার হয়ে গেছে পাথরঘাটা পৌর শহর। ভাঙ্গা ও কর্দমাক্ত রাস্তা নিয়ে মানুষের দুর্ভোগের শেষ নেই। শুধু প্রধান সড়ক নয় পৌর এলাকার বেশির ভাগ সড়কেরই বেহাল দশা।
স্থানীয়দের দাবি, অতীতে কোনো সময় এত ভাঙ্গা সড়ক দেখেননি তারা। এত উন্নয়নের জিকির তোলা হলেও কেনো পৌর শহরের এই করুণ দশা? প্রশ্ন সচেতন মহল সহ সাধারণ জনগণের। এনিয়ে সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যমেও নানা বিরূপ প্রতিক্রিয়া লক্ষণীয়। তাই সরকারের ইমেজ ধরে রাখতে দ্রুত সড়ক সংস্কারের দাবি জানান স্থানীয়রা।
পথচারীরা বলেন, নারী-পুরুষ সবাই শুধু ভাঙ্গা রাস্তা নিয়ে কথা বলে কারণ মানুষ সত্যিকার অর্থে রাস্তায় চলতে চরম অসুবিধায় পড়েছে।
উপরন্তু গত ২দিনের বৃষ্টিতে পৌর শহরের অবস্থা খুবই কাহিল হয়েছে। যত্রতত্র ময়লা, আবর্জনা আর কাঁদায় সয়লাব হয়ে পড়েছে। গাড়ীগুলো চলতে গিয়ে রাস্তায় উল্টে যাওয়ার উপক্রম হয়েছে ।
পাথরঘাটা বাজারের ব্যবসায়ীরা বলেন , আমাদের সামনের সড়কের বাজে অবস্থা। জানিনা কর্তৃপক্ষ কি করে! পৌর এলাকার বেশির ভাগ সড়ক এতই নাজুক মানুষ রাস্তায় বের হলেই মন্দ কথা বলে।
তারা আরও বলেন, পাথরঘাটার এসব সড়কে প্রতিদিন প্রায় ৫ হাজার যানবাহন চলাচল করে। ফলে সড়কের এ খানা-খন্দের কারণে প্রায় সময় শহরে যানজট লেগে থাকার উপক্রম হয়। দ্রুত এ সমস্যার সমাধান করা না হলে, সাধারণ পথচারীদের কষ্টের সীমা থাকবে না। দিন দিন এসব সড়কের খানা-খন্দ বড় বড় গর্তে পরিণত হওয়ায় যানবাহন চলাচলেও সমস্যার সৃষ্টি হচ্ছে।
সরেজমিনে গিয়ে দেখা যায়, শহরের থানা রোড থেকে পাথরঘাটা হাসপাতাল পর্যন্ত প্রধান সড়কের খুবই নাজুক অবস্থা। এছাড়া গলি-উপ গলির অবস্থা আরো ভয়াবহ। সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে দ্রুত সড়কগুলো সংস্কার করার জন্য বিভিন্ন সামাজিক সংগঠন ও সচেতন পাথরঘাটাবাসী অনুরোধ জানান।
পাথরঘাটা পৌরসভার মেয়র আনোয়ার হোসেন আকন বলেন, অধিকাংশ সড়ক মেরামত করা হয়েছে, বেশকিছু রাস্তার কাজ চলমান রয়েছে । খুব শীঘ্রই খারাপ রাস্তাগুলো মেরামত করা হবে।
