ঝিনাইদহের হরিণাকুণ্ডু উপজেলায় বাইসাইকেল চালানো শিখতে গিয়ে আম গাছের সাথে ধাক্কা খেয়ে সুরাইয়া (১০) নামে এক শিশু কন্যার মৃত্যু হয়েছে। বুধবার দুপুরে উপজেলার রঘুনাথপুর ইউনিয়নের ভবিতপুর গ্রামে এই মর্মান্তিক ঘটনা ঘটেছে। নিহত সুরাইয়া ওই গ্রামের ফুলছদ্দিন মিয়ার কন্যা এবং ভবিতপুর সরকারী প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ের তৃতীয় শ্রেণির ছাত্রী।
নিহতের চাচা নজির উদ্দিন জানান, দুপুরে সুরাইয়া তার পিতার বাইসাইকেল নিয়ে বাড়ির বাইরে যায়। রাস্তায় সাইকেল চালানো শিখতে গিয়ে আমগাছের সাথে ধাক্কা লাগে। এতে তার এসময় বুকে ও মাথায় আঘাত লাগে। তাকে উদ্ধার করে হরিণাকুণ্ডু স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে চিকিৎসার জন্য নিলে কর্তব্যরত ডাক্তার তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন।
উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সের কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক ডা. সাজেদুর রহমান জানান, শিশুটির বুকে ও মাথায় আঘাতে প্রচুর রক্তক্ষরণ হয়েছে। ফলে হাসপাতালে আসার পথেই তার মৃত্যু হয়েছে। হরিণাকুন্ডু থানার ওসি আব্দুর রহিম মোল্লা জানান, শিশু সুরাইয়ার মৃত্যু দুঃখ জনক। এ ঘটনায় একটি অপমৃত্য মামলা হয়েছে।
