শেরপুরের শ্রীবরদীতে সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় এক শিশুর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। মঙ্গলবার সন্ধ্যায় (০১ জুন) উপজেলার কুরুয়া উত্তর পাড়া এলাকায় এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহত শিশু আখরাইম (১০) কুরুয়া উত্তর পাড়া গ্রামের জহুরুল হকের ছেলে। এঘটনায় এলাকায় শোকের ছায়া নেমে এসেছে।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী সূত্রে জানা গেছে, আখরাইম রাস্তা পাড়াপাড়ের সময় কুরুয়া গামী একটি অটোরিক্সা তাকে চাপা দেয়। এ সময় আখরাইম গুরুতর আহত হয়। পরে স্থানীয়রা তাকে উদ্ধার করে শ্রীবরদী উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে আনলে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষনা করেন। কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক জুলফিকার সাইফ বলেন, শিশুটির মাথা, ঘাড়, পিঠসহ একাধিক জায়গায় আঘাতের চিহ্ন রয়েছে। হাসপাতালে আনার পূর্বেই শিশুটির মৃত্যু হয়েছে। শ্রীবরদী থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ বিপ্লব কুমার বিশ্বাস বলেন, শিশুটির পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে কোন অভিযোগ না করায় লাশ মৃতের পরিবারের নিকট হস্তান্তর করা হয়েছে।
