বিশ্বজুড়ে করোনা মহামারীর ভয়াল গ্রাস চলমান। বাংলাদেশে ডেল্টা, ডেল্টা প্লাস সহ অনেক ভ্যারিয়েন্টে আক্রান্ত রোগীর ছড়াছড়ি।
করোনা আক্রান্ত রোগি যদি হয় শ্বাসকষ্টের রোগী তাহলে তার জন্য কতটা বিপদজনক অবস্থান সেটা আর বুঝার বাকি নেই। এমন রোগীর জন্য অতিব জরুরি হয় উচ্চ চাপের অক্সিজেন এবং থাকতে হবে নিবিড় পরিচর্যা কেন্দ্র ( Intensive care unit-ICU) এর আওতায়।
মেডিকেল কলেজবিহীন মৌলভীবাজার জেলায় নেই ICU সুবিধা। রোগীকে রেফার করে দিতে হয় সিলেট, ঢাকা কিংবা অন্য কোথাও। রাস্তায়ই অনেক রোগীর অবস্থা সূচনীয় মাত্রায় চলে যায় কখনো রাস্তায়ই ঘটে মৃত্যু।
মৌলভীবাজার মেডিকেল এসোসিয়েশন (বিএমএ)’র সভাপতি –ডা. শাব্বির হোসেন খান এমন ভয়াবহ অবস্থা চোখের সামনে দেখে বেশ চিন্তায় পড়েন। আইসিইউ না থাকুক অন্তত হাই ফ্লো নাজাল ক্যানুলা (HFNC) এর ব্যবস্থা অন্তত করা যায়, আইসিইউ সুবিধা না দিতে পারলে অন্তত উচ্চ চাপের অক্সিজেন যেন দেয়া যায় এমন এক উদ্যোগ নেয়ার চিন্তা করলেন।
বছরের মাঝামাঝি সময়ে কেবল এই চিন্তার বহিঃপ্রকাশ করেন নিজের সোশাল মিডিয়া (ফেসবুক) র টাইমলাইনে। সহযোগিতা চান ২৫০শয্যা বিশিষ্ট জেলা সদর হাসপাতালে HFNC & Manifold Oxygen Cylinder স্থাপনের জন্য। তার পোস্ট সাড়া ফেলে বিভিন্ন শ্রেনী-পেশার মানুষের কাছে। স্থানীয় সাংসদ ও পৌর মেয়রসহ বিভিন্নজনের সাথে কথা বলে গঠন করেন বাস্তবায়ন কমিটি।
ডা. শাব্বির হোসেন খান সভাপতি ও উদ্যোক্তা ও ব্যবসায়ী সুমন আহমদকে সদস্যসচিব করে গঠিত হয় কমিটি। মনোয়ার আহমেদ রহমানকে কোষাধ্যক্ষ এবং ডা. শাহজাহান কবীর চৌধুরীকে (সাধারণ সম্পাদক বিএমএ) ও হাসিব হোসেন খানকে সদস্য হিসেবে রাখা হয় কমিটিতে। উপদেষ্টা হন মৌলভীবাজার জেনারেল হাসপাতালের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক, সিভিল সার্জন ও বিএমএর সাবেক সভাপতি এম এ আহাদ, চিকিৎসক আবু রায়হান, চিকিৎসক আবদুল্লাহ আল মারূফ, চিকিৎসক এ বি এম নিজাম উদ্দীন এবং চিকিৎসক এনামুর রশীদ। চিকিৎসক, ব্যবসায়ী, প্রবাসীসহ বিভিন্ন পর্যায়ের মানুষ এগিয়ে আসায় টাকার সংস্থান হতে থাকে। অনেক প্রতিষ্ঠান বিভিন্ন চিকিৎসাসামগ্রী নিয়েও এগিয়ে আসে। কমিটি তখন পূর্ণাঙ্গ আইসিইউ স্থাপনে আশাবাদী হয়ে ওঠে।
আইসিইউর জন্য কক্ষ থাকলেও ছিলোনা উপযোগী। গণপূর্ত বিভাগের সমন্বয়ে কক্ষ প্রস্তুত করা হয়। ১২টি মেগা সিলিন্ডার নিয়ে তৈরি মেনিফোল্ড অক্সিজেন প্ল্যান্ট, ৩টি সেমি-অটো এইচএফএনসিসহ আইসিইউ’র প্রয়োজনীয় সব সুরক্ষা সামগ্রী কেনা হয় এবং সেগুলো দিয়ে হাসপাতালে চালু হয় ডা. শাব্বিরের পরিকল্পিত ৬শয্যার কোভিড ডেডিকেটেড আইসিইউ। এই পর্যন্ত দেড় শতাধিক রোগী চিকিৎসা নিয়েছেন। এই মহৎ উদ্যোগের বাস্তবায়ন জেলাবাসীর জন্য অনেক বড় আশাজাগানিয়া খবর।
মৌলভীবাজার ২৫০শয্যা বিশিষ্ট জেলা সদর হাসপাতালের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক ডা. বিনেন্দু ভৌমিক দৈনিক ডাক’কে জানান, আইসিইউতে বিরাট উপকার হচ্ছে। করোনা আক্রান্ত রোগীর সিরিয়াস কন্ডিশনে প্রয়োজন হয় হাই ফ্লো নাজাল ক্যানুলা’র। বেসরকারি উদ্যোগে অনেকে এগিয়ে আসায় সেই ব্যবস্থা হয়েছে। আশা করা যায় আগামী একমাসের মধ্যে মেনিফোল্ড অক্সিজেন প্লান্ট থেকে সেবা চালু হবে। তিনি এরকম আরো উদ্যোগের প্রত্যাশা ব্যক্ত করেন।
