কুমিল্লার মুরাদনগরে ইউপি উপ-নির্বাচনে নৌকা প্রতীক প্রার্থীর বিপক্ষে প্রচারণার জের ধরে ৩ যুবককে কুপিয়ে গুরুতর জখম করা হয়েছে। শনিবার রাতে উপজেলার বি চাপিতলা মসজিদ মার্কেটে এঘটনা ঘটেছে। এতে ওই গ্রামের কাজী মোখলেছ ভূঁইয়ার ছেলে খবির উদ্দিন, ও কবির উদ্দিন এবং একই গ্রামের লিটন মিয়াকে দেশীয় অস্ত্র দিয়ে কুপিয়ে গুরুতর জখম করা হয়। এঘটনায় রোববার বাঙ্গরা বাজার থানায় মামলা দায়ের করা হয়েছে। এতে এলাকায় উত্তেজনা বিরাজ করছে।
অভিযোগে জানা যায়, প্রায় ৬ মাস পুর্বে অর্থাৎ গত বছরের ডিসেম্বরের শেষে উপজেলার রামচন্দ্রপুর উত্তর ইউপির উপ নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে নৌকার বিপক্ষে স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী আবু বকরের পক্ষে কাজ করে খবির, কবির ও লিটন। এনিয়ে তাদের সাথে সরকার দলীয় প্রার্থীর লোকজনের বিরোধ সৃষ্টি হয়। ওই বিরোধকে কেন্দ্র করে শনিবার রাতে পুর্ব পরিকল্পিত ভাবে ওই গ্রামের কামরুজ্জামান ভূঁইয়ার নেতৃত্বে ছাত্তার, সুজন, অহিদ, রাসেল, শান্ত, হাবিব ভূঁইয়া, রাজু, হান্নান ভূঁইয়া, কাশেম সহ একদল বখাটে তাদেরকে দেশীয় ধারালো অস্ত্র দিয়ে কুপিয়ে গুরুতর জখম করে। এসময় আশপাশের লোকজন তাদেরকে উদ্ধার করে প্রথমে মুরাদনগর পরে কুমিল্লা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করে। আহতদের মধ্যে খবিরের অবস্থা আশঙ্কাজনক বলে জানা গেছে।
এবিষয়ে বাঙ্গরা বাজার থানার ওসি কামরুজ্জামান তালুকদার বলেন, ওই যুবকদের উপর হামলার খবর পেয়ে তৎক্ষণাৎ ঘটনাস্থলে পুলিশ পাঠাইয়া পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনি, তদন্ত এবং হামলায় জড়িতদের গ্রেফতারে অভিযান চলছে।
