মাইক্রোসফটের প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা বা সিইও সত্য নাদেলাকেই এবার নতুন চেয়ারম্যান পদে নিয়োগ দিল সংস্থাটি। এতদিন এই দায়িত্বে ছিলেন জন থম্পসন। তার জায়গাতেই এবার এই নতুন দায়িত্ব নেবেন ভারতীয় বংশোদ্ভূত এই মার্কিন নাগরিক।
দুই দশকের মধ্যে এই প্রথম মাইক্রোসফটের চেয়ারম্যান ও প্রধান নির্বাহী হিসেবে একই ব্যক্তি দ্বায়িত্ব পালন করবেন।এর আগে বিল গেটস একই সঙ্গে চেয়ারম্যান ও প্রধান নির্বাহীর দায়িত্ব পালন করেছিলেন। পরে ২০০০ সালে প্রধান নির্বাহীর দায়িত্ব থেকে সরে আসেন বিল গেটস। ২০১৪ সালে চেয়ারম্যান পদ ছাড়েন তিনি।
বুধবার এক বিবৃতিতে মাইক্রোসফট জানিয়েছে, নাদেলা নিজের গভীর ব্যবসায়িক জ্ঞান কাজে লাগিয়ে মাইক্রোসফটের জন্য সঠিক কৌশলী সম্ভাবনা তুলে ধরবেন এবং প্রতিষ্ঠানের ঝুঁকি চিহ্নিত করে তা হ্রাসের পন্থা বোর্ডের পর্যালোচনার উপস্থাপন করবেন।
১৯৬৭ সালে হায়দরাবাদে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন নাদেলা। হায়দরাবাদ পাবলিক স্কুল থেকে প্রাথমিক পড়াশোনা শেষ করার পর তিনি মণিপাল ইনস্টিটিউট অফ টেকনোলজি থেকে ইলেক্ট্রিক্যাল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং পড়েন। পরবর্তীতে ১৯৯৬ সালে শিকাগোর বুথ স্কুল অফ বিজনেস থেকে এমবিএ করেছিলেন তিনি।
