করোনাভাইরাস প্রতিরোধে আগামী মে মাসের প্রথম সপ্তাহেই ২১ লাখ ডোজ ভ্যাকসিন আসবে বলে জানিয়েছেন স্বাস্থ্য অধিদফতরের মহাপরিচালক অধ্যাপক ডা. আবুল বাশার মো. খুরশীদ আলম।
তিনি বলেছেন, মে মাসের শুরুতেই ২১ লাখ ডোজ ভ্যাকসিন আমরা পাচ্ছি। তারমধ্যে এক লাখ ডোজ ভ্যাকসিন দেবে কোভ্যাক্স, আর বিশ লাখ ডোজ দেবে সেরাম ইনস্টিটিউট।
রোববার বিশ্ব ম্যালেরিয়া দিবস উপলক্ষে স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তর আয়োজিত এক আলোচনা সভার পরে মহাপরিচালক এসব কথা বলেন।
তিনি আরও বলেন, যেহেতু ভ্যাকসিন শেষ হওয়ার আগেই আমরা পাচ্ছি, সুতরাং কোনো সংকট হবে না। আর গণটিকাদানের প্রথম ও দ্বিতীয় ডোজের কার্যক্রমও আমাদের চলবে।
খুরশিদ আলম বলেন, চীনের উপহারের ভ্যাকসিন নেওয়া হচ্ছে। এটা প্রয়োগের ব্যাপারে সিদ্ধান্ত দেবে করোনা বিষয়ক জাতীয় পরামর্শক কমিটি। ভারতে করোনার নতুন রূপ শনাক্ত হওয়ায় দেশটির সঙ্গে জরুরি পণ্য পরিবহন ছাড়া সব ধরনের যোগাযোগ বন্ধের প্রস্তাব করা হয়েছে।
তিনি আরও বলেন, দেশে তিনটি ফার্মাসিউটিক্যালসের করোনার ভ্যাকসিন তৈরি সক্ষমতা আছে। সব ধরনের ভ্যাকসিন ব্যবহারের সময় কিছু ক্ষতি হয়। করোনার ক্ষেত্রেও পাঁচ থেকে দশ শতাংশের মতো ক্ষতি হয়ে থাকতে পারে।
