দু-একদিনের মধ্যেই পোশাক শ্রমিকদের টিকা দেওয়া শুরু

কয়েক মাস আগেই দেশে করোনাভাইরাসের টিকাদান কার্যক্রম শুরু হলেও এখনো পর্যন্ত পোশাক কারখানার শ্রমিকদের পুরোপুরি টিকা কার্যক্রমের আওতায় আনা যায়নি। তৈরি পোশাক কারখানার মালিকরা বলছেন, পোশাক কারখানাগুলো খোলা হয়েছে। শ্রমিকরা কাজ শুরু করেছেন। আমরা সরকারের সংশ্লিষ্ট মন্ত্রণালয়ের সঙ্গে কথা বলেছি, দু-একদিনের মধ্যেই টিকা দেওয়া শুরু হবে।

তৈরি পোশাক মালিকদের সংগঠন বিজিএমইএ’র সহ-সভাপতি শহিদুল্লাহ আজীম এ বিষয়ে গণমাধ্যমকে বলেন, করোনা থেকে বাঁচতে হলে সচেতনতার বিকল্প নেই। করোনা প্রতিরোধে এখন পর্যন্ত সবচেয়ে বড় কার্যকর পথ হচ্ছে টিকা দেওয়া। সরকারের সহযোগিতার মাধ্যমে আমরা ঈদের আগে চারটি কারখানায় মোট ২৯ হাজার শ্রমিককে টিকা দিয়েছিলাম।

শহিদুল্লাহ আজীম বলেন, ঈদ ও বিধিনিষেধের কারণে শ্রমিকরা কারখানার বাইরে ছিল, তাই আমরা আর টিকা দিতে পারিনি। রোববার থেকে আমাদের কারখানাগুলো চালু হয়েছে। সরকারের স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের সঙ্গে কথা বলেছি, আমাদের টিকা দেওয়ার জন্য বলেছেন। দু-একদিনের মধ্যে আবারও কারখানাগুলোতে শ্রমিকদের টিকা দেওয়া শুরু হবে।

সরকার টিকাদান কার্যক্রমে এবার শ্রমিকদের অগ্রাধিকার দিয়েছেন উল্লেখ করে বিকেএমইএ’র পরিচালক ফজলে এহসান শামীম বলেন, আমরা সরকারকে সর্বোচ্চ সহযোগিতা করছি। কারণ করোনা থেকে বেঁচে থাকার এখন পর্যন্ত সবচেয়ে বড় ব্যবস্থা হচ্ছে টিকা।

সরকার শ্রমিকদের টিকাদান কার্যক্রম শুরু করেছে গত ১৮ জুলাই। সরকারের লক্ষ্য ৪০-৫০ লাখ শ্রমিককে টিকা দেওয়া। এ পর্যন্ত ৪০ হাজার শ্রমিককে টিকার প্রথম ডোজ দেওয়া হয়েছে।

এ বিষয়ে সিপিডির গবেষণা পরিচালক ড. খন্দকার গোলাম মোয়াজ্জেম বলেন, সরকার, বিজিএমইএ ও বিকেএমইএ-সহ ব্যবসায়ীদের উচিত সব শ্রমিককে করোনার টিকা দেওয়া নিশ্চিত করা।

সম্প্রতি স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী জাহিদ মালেক বলেছেন, সরকার জনগণের টিকা নিশ্চিতকরণের জন্য সর্বোচ্চ চেষ্টা করে যাচ্ছে। এ পর্যন্ত ২১ কোটি ডোজ টিকার নিশ্চয়তা পাওয়া গেছে। এর মাধ্যমে দেশের প্রায় ৭০ শতাংশ জনগোষ্ঠীকে টিকার আওতায় আনা হবে। সুতরাং টিকা নিয়ে সংকট হবে না। শিল্পকারখানার কর্মীদের সিংহভাগ নির্ধারিত বয়সসীমার মধ্যে, তারাও টিকা পাবেন।
