নারায়ণগঞ্জের সোনারগাঁয়ে বকেয়া বেতনের দাবিতে ঢাকা-চট্টগ্রাম ও ঢাকা-সিলেট মহাসড়কে বিক্ষোভ ও অবরোধ করছেন পোশাক কারখানার শ্রমিকরা। তারা দুই মহাসড়কের মাঝে ট্রাক, পিকআপ ভ্যান ও বিদুৎতের খুঁটি ফেলে রাস্তা অবরোধ করে রেখেছেন। এতে সড়কে কয়েকশ যানবাহন আটকে দীর্ঘ যানজটের সৃষ্টি হয়।
বৃহস্পতিবার (৮ জুলাই) সকাল ৯টা থেকে উপজেলার শিল্পনগরী কাঁচপুরে সিনহা অ্যান্ড ওপেক্স গ্রুপের শ্রমিকরা রাস্তা অবরোধ করে বিক্ষোভ শুরু করেন। শেষ খবর পাওয়া পর্যন্ত দুপুর ২টায়ও বিক্ষোভ চলতে দেখা যায়।
খবর পেয়ে সোনারগাঁও উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (ইউএনও) মো. আতিকুল ইসলাম, নারায়ণগঞ্জের অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার (খ-অঞ্চল) মো. বিল্লাল হোসেন ও সোনারগাঁও থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মোহাম্মদ হাফিজুর রহমান ঘটনাস্থলে উপস্থিত হন।
শ্রমিকরা জানান, এর আগেও তারা বকেয়া বেতনের দাবিতে আন্দোলন করেছেন। পুলিশের পক্ষ থেকে মালিকপক্ষের সঙ্গে কথা বলে বেতন পরিশোধের আশ্বাস দেয়া হয়। পরে এ আশ্বাসের কোনো সমাধান হয় না। তাদের তিন মাসের বেতন বকেয়া রয়েছে। বেতন না পাওয়ায় বাড়ি ভাড়া, দোকানের বাকি, সংসার খরচসহ বিভিন্ন খরচ মেটাতে হিমশিম খেতে হচ্ছে তাদের। দাবি পূরণ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত এ আন্দোলন চলবে বলে জানান শ্রমিকরা।
সোনারগাঁয়ের ইউএনও মো. আতিকুল ইসলাম বলেন, কাঁচপুরে শ্রমিকদের রাস্তা থেকে ফেরানোর চেষ্টা চলছে। আশা করছি দ্রুত যান চলাচল স্বাভাবিক হবে। সিনহা অ্যান্ড ওপেক্স গ্রুপের মালিকপক্ষের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগের চেষ্টা চলছে।
