পদ্মা ব্যাংকে বড় অঙ্কের বিদেশি বিনিয়োগ হতে যাচ্ছে। এ সংখ্যাটা হতে পারে ৭০ কোটি ডলার। বাংলাদেশি মুদ্রায় যা ৫ হাজার ৯০০ কোটি টাকা। যুক্তরাষ্ট-ভিত্তিক বিনিয়োগ-সংক্রান্ত বিশ্বের অন্যতম আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠান (বিনিয়োগ ব্যাংক) ডেলমর্গান অ্যান্ড কোম্পানি বাংলাদেশের তফশিলীভুক্ত পদ্মা-ব্যাংক’কে ৭০ কোটি মার্কিন ডলারের সম-মূল্যের প্রায় ৫ হাজার ৯শ’ কোটি টাকার একটি বড় অঙ্কের বিদেশী বিনিয়োগ পাইয়ে দেয়ার চেষ্টা করছে বলেই জানা গেছে।
বিনিয়োগের জন্য বিপুল পরিমাণ এই অর্থ আনতে মধ্যস্থতার ভূমিকা সক্রিয় করার লক্ষ্যে গত ২ সেপ্টেম্বর পদ্মা ব্যাংক ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রভিত্তিক বিশ্বের খ্যাতনামা বিনিয়োগ ব্যাংক ডেলমর্গান অ্যান্ড কোম্পানির মধ্যে একটি সমঝোতা স্মারক স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে।
পদ্মা ব্যাংকের চেয়্যারম্যান চৌধুরী নাফিজ সরাফাত এবং ডেলমর্গানের চেয়ারম্যান রব ডেলগাডোর উপস্থিতিতে পদ্মা ব্যাংকের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক (এমডি) ও প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (সিইও) এহসান খসরু ও ডেলমর্গানের প্রেসিডেন্ট ও সিইও নিল মর্গানবেসার নিজ-নিজ প্রতিষ্ঠানের পক্ষে এ সমঝোতা স্মারকে (এমওইউ) স্বাক্ষর করেন।
এমওইউ-স্বাক্ষরের পর পদ্মা ব্যাংকের এমডি ও প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা এহসান খসরু বলেন, ‘আগামী ৪ থেকে ৬ মাসের মধ্যে এ বিনিয়োগ আসবে। মোট বিনিয়োগের মধ্যে ২ হাজার ৪শ’ কোটি টাকা আসবে ইক্যুইটি বিনিয়োগ হিসেবে। আর বাকিটা আসবে ঋণ হিসেবে।
পদ্মা ব্যাংকের চেয়্যারম্যান এমওইউ-স্বাক্ষরের পর তাৎক্ষণিক প্রতিক্রিয়ায় জানান, বাংলাদেশের আর্থিক খাতের ইতিহাসে এটি এক নতুন অধ্যায় হিসেবে মাইলফলক হয়ে থাকবে। তিনি বলেন, পদ্মা ব্যাংক ‘এম অ্যান্ড এ’ (মার্জার অ্যান্ড অ্যাকুইজেশন) লেনদেনের আওতায় আন্তর্জাতিক আর্থিক ক্ষেত্রে প্রবেশের সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করলো।
ব্যবসায়িক প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর গতিশীলতা বাড়ানোর লক্ষ্যে বিশ্বব্যাপী বিপুল-সংখ্যক ‘এম অ্যান্ড এ’ চুক্তি ইতোমধ্যে স্বাক্ষরিত হয়েছে উল্লেখ করে ডেলমর্গান অ্যান্ড কোম্পানির চেয়্যারম্যান রব ডেলগাডো বলেন, ‘আমরা পদ্মা ব্যাংকের সঙ্গে কাজ করার সুযোগ পেয়ে উচ্ছ্বসিত। এ ব্যাংক বিদেশি বিনিয়োগের যে সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করেছে, আমরা সেটি এগিয়ে নিতে পারব বলে আশা করছি।’
শনিবার বিকেলে পদ্মা ব্যাংকের পাবলিক রিলেশন বিভাগের এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে সমঝোতা স্মারক স্বাক্ষর সম্পর্কে জানানো হয়। এতে বলা হয়, ডেলমর্গান অ্যান্ড কোম্পানি আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে স্বীকৃত একটি ইনভেস্টমেন্ট ব্যাংক এবং আর্থিক খাতের পরামর্শদাতা কোম্পানি। এ ব্যাকের সদরদপ্তর হচ্ছে, যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ক্যালিফোর্নিয়ার সান্তা মনিকায়।
তিন দশকের অভিজ্ঞতাসম্পন্ন এ কোম্পানি ৩০০ বিলিয়ন (৩০ হাজার কোটি) মার্কিন ডলারের লেনদেন সফলভাবে সম্পন্ন করেছে। ডেলমর্গানের কর্মকর্তারা বিশ্বব্যাপী কোম্পানি, প্রতিষ্ঠান, সরকার এবং ব্যক্তি পর্যায়ে বিশ্বমানের আর্থিক পরামর্শ এবং সহায়তা দিয়ে থাকে। সূত্র- বাসস।
