কুমিল্লা আদর্শ সদর উপজেলার সদরের বড় আলমপুর এলাকায় মিয়ামী প্যাকেজিং ফ্যাক্টরিতে অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। এ সংবাদ পেয়ে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের ৫টি ইউনিট দুই ঘণ্টার চেষ্টায় আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে।
মঙ্গলবার (১০ আগস্ট) সকাল সাড়ে ৭টায় ওই এলাকায় এ ঘটনা ঘটে। এ সময় কোনো হতাহতের ঘটনা ঘটেনি।
ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্স কুমিল্লার সিনিয়র স্টেশন অফিসার আলী আজম বলেন, সংবাদ পেয়ে ৭টা ৪০ মিনিটের দিকে ৩টি ইউনিট গিয়ে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণ করার চেষ্টা করে। কিন্তু ফ্যাক্টরিতে পলি প্যাকেজিং থাকায় আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণ করা যাচ্ছিল না। পরে আরও ২টি ইউনিটকে সংবাদ দেয়া হয়। ৫ ইউনিটের চেষ্টায় সকাল সাড়ে ৯টায় আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আসে।
তিনি আরও বলেন, পরিত্যক্ত মালামালের গোডাউনের অংশ থেকে আগুনের সূত্রপাত হয়। ধারণা করা হচ্ছে, বৈদ্যুতিক শর্ট সার্কিট থেকে আগুন লাগতে পারে। তবে আমরা বিষয়টি তদন্ত করে দেখছি।
