চট্টগ্রামের বাঁশখালীর নির্মাণাধীন বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রে শ্রমিক-পুলিশ সংঘর্ষে নিহত ৭ জন শ্রমিকের প্রত্যেক পরিবারকে দুই লাখ এবং আহত ১৫ শ্রমিকের চিকিৎসার জন্য প্রত্যেককে পঞ্চাশ হাজার টাকা করে সহায়তার ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান প্রতিমন্ত্রী বেগম মন্নুজান সুফিয়ান।
সোমবার এক বিবৃতিতে প্রতিমন্ত্রী এ সহায়তার ঘোষণা দেন। শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান মন্ত্রণালয়ের অধীন বাংলাদেশ শ্রমিক কল্যাণ ফাউন্ডেশন তহবিল হতে এ সহায়তা দেয়া হবে।
শ্রম প্রতিমন্ত্রী বলেন: বাঁশখালীর ঘটনা অত্যন্ত মর্মান্তিক এবং বেদনাদায়ক। একটি শ্রমজীবী পরিবারের কর্মক্ষম ব্যক্তিটির মৃত্যু হলে সেই পরিবারটি অসহায় হয়ে পড়ে। সেই অসহায় শ্রমিক পরিবারকে শ্রম মন্ত্রণালয়ের শ্রমিক কল্যাণ তহবিল হতে সহযোগিতার সুযোগ রয়েছে।
এছাড়াও প্রতিমন্ত্রী নিহত শ্রমিকদের রুহের মাগফিরাত কামনা করেন এবং যারা আহত হয়ে চিকিৎসাধীন তিনি তাদের দ্রুত সুস্থতা কামনা করেন।
বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়, বাংলাদেশ শ্রম আইন অনুযায়ী গঠিত বাংলাদেশ শ্রমিক কল্যাণ ফাউন্ডেশন তহবিল হতে কর্মস্থলে দুর্ঘটনায় কোন শ্রমিক নিহত হলে নিহত শ্রমিকের পরিবারকে সর্বোচ্চ দুই লাখ পর্যন্ত এবং আহতদের চিকিৎসার জন্য পঞ্চাশ হাজার টাকা পর্যন্ত সহায়তার বিধান রয়েছে।
উল্লেখ্য, গত ১৭ এপ্রিল বাঁশখালী উপজেলার গন্ডামারা এলাকায় এস আলম গ্রুপ এবং চীনা প্রতিষ্ঠান সেফকো থ্রি পাওয়ার কনস্ট্রাকশন কোম্পানি লিমিটেড এর অর্থায়নে এসএস পাওয়ার প্ল্যান্ট নামে নির্মাণাধীন বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রে শ্রমিক-পুলিশ সংঘর্ষে ৭ জন শ্রমিক নিহত এবং ১৫ জন শ্রমিক আহত হন।
