জামালপুরের ইসলামপুর উপজেলায় কাকলী আক্তার (১৯) নামে এক গৃহবধূর মরদেহ উদ্ধার করেছে পুলিশ। শনিবার দুপুরে গোয়ালেরচর ইউনিয়নের মোহম্মদপুর দক্ষিণপাড়া গ্রামের শ্বশুর বাড়ি থেকে তার মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। ঘটনার পর থেকে স্বামীসহ শ্বশুর বাড়ির লোকজন পলাতক রয়েছে।
নিহত কাকলী ইসলামপুর পৌর এলাকার গঙ্গাপাড়া গ্রামের আফসার বেপারীর মেয়ে।
পুলিশ জানায়, প্রায় ৯ মাস আগে ইসলামপুরের গোয়ালেরচর মোহম্মদপুর দক্ষিণপাড়া গ্রামের মোজাম্মেল হকের ছেলে নজরুল ইসলামের সঙ্গে কাকলী আক্তারের বিয়ে হয়। বিয়ের পর থেকেই যৌতুকের জন্য শ্বশুরবাড়ির লোকজন কাকলীর ওপর নির্যাতন চালিয়ে আসছিলো। শুক্রবার রাতে একই কারণে কাকলীকে নির্যাতন করলে কোনো এক সময় তার মৃত্যু হয়। শ্বশরবাড়ির লোকজন বিষয়টি লুকানোর চেষ্টা করলেও দুপুরে এলাকাবাসী টেরপেয়ে থানায় খবর দেয়। পরে পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থল থেকে কাকলীর মরদেহ উদ্ধার করলেও স্বামীসহ শ্বশুরবাড়ির লোকজন পলাতক ছিলো।
ইসলামপুর থানা পুলিশের ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. শাহিনুজ্জামান খান গৃহবধূ কাকলীর মরদেহ উদ্ধারের বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করছেন।
