উজানের ঢল ও ভারি বর্ষণের ফলে টাঙ্গাইলে যমুনা নদীর পানি ১০ সেন্টিমিটার বেড়ে বিপদসীমার ৭ সেন্টিমিটার ওপর দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হচ্ছে।
বৃহস্পতিবার যমুনা নদীর পানি বৃদ্ধির ফলে অভ্যন্তরীণ ধলেশ্বরী, লৌহজং, বংশাই ও ঝিনাই নদীর পানিও বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে।
টাঙ্গাইল পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ড সূত্র জানায়, দুদিন স্থিতিশীল থাকার পর উজান থেকে নেমে আসা পাহাড়ি ঢল ও ভারি বর্ষণের ফলে এ পানি বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। ফলে যমুনা নদীর চরাঞ্চল, নিম্নাঞ্চল অভ্যন্তরীণ নদীতীরবর্তী এলাকার ফসলি জমি ও ঘরবাড়ি প্লাবিত হচ্ছে। শত শত পরিবার পানিবন্দি হয়ে পড়েছে। যমুনার ছাড়াও ধলেশ্বরী নদীর পানি ৪ সেন্টিমিটার বেড়ে বিপদসীমার ২৩ সেন্টিমিটার ও ঝিনাই নদীর পানি ৯ সেন্টিমিটার বেড়ে বিপদসীমার ৩৭ সেন্টিমিটার ওপর দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হচ্ছে।
এদিকে পানি বৃদ্ধি পেলেও ব্যাপক ক্ষতির কোনো তথ্য পাওয়া যায়নি। তবে পানি বৃদ্ধির ধারা অব্যাহত থাকলে ক্ষতির সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ড ও কৃষি বিভাগ।
কালিহাতী উপজেলার দুর্গাপুর ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের (ইউপি) চেয়ারম্যান আনোয়ার হোসেন জানান, ভৈরববাড়ী গ্রামের প্রায় দেড়শ পরিবার গত এক মাসে গৃহহীন হয়ে পড়েছে। ঘরবাড়ি হারিয়ে লোকজন আশ্রয় নিয়েছেন আশপাশের বিভিন্ন এলাকায়। এখন মাঝে মাধ্যে ভাঙছে। পানি বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ায় ইউনিয়নের প্রায় প্রতিটি গ্রামেই পানি প্রবেশ করেছে। শত শত পরিবার পানিবন্দি হয়ে পড়েছে।
টাঙ্গাইল কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তরের উপপরিচালক মো. আহসানুল বাসার বলেন, এ পর্যন্ত প্রায় ৩৫ হেক্টর আমন বন্যায় তলিয়েছে।
