ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়ার সরাইল উপজেলায় বেপরোয়া গতির বালুর ট্রাকের ধাক্কায় সাগর মিয়া (২০) নামে এক ভ্যানচালক নিহত হয়েছেন।
সোমবার সকাল সাড়ে ৭টার দিকে ঢাকা-সিলেট মহাসড়কের কুট্টাপাড়া এলাকায় এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে।
নিহত সাগর ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়ার সদর উপজেলার মজলিশপুর ইউনিয়নের বাকাইল গ্রামের নান্নু মিয়ার ছেলে।
খাঁটিহাতা হাইওয়ে থানার ওসি মোহাম্মদ শাহজালাল আলম জানান, সকালে সাগর মিয়া বেকারি রুটি-বিস্কুট নিয়ে বিভিন্ন দোকানে সরবরাহ করতে ভ্যানগাড়ি চালিয়ে ঢাকা-সিলেট মহাসড়কের পাশ দিয়ে সরাইলে দিকে যাচ্ছিলেন।
এ সময় পেছন দিক দিয়ে দ্রুতগতির বালুভর্তি একটি ট্রাক নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে ভ্যানগাড়িটিসহ সড়কের পার্শ্ববর্তী খাদে পড়ে যায়। গুরুতর আহতাবস্থায় সাগরকে উদ্ধার করে ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া জেনারেল হাসপাতালে নিয়ে গেলে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন।
