মেহেরপুর সদরে উপজেলার রাধাকান্তপুর গ্রামে গোপন বৈঠকের সময় ৫ নারীসহ ৬ জন জামায়াত কর্মীকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ। শনিবার (২১ আগস্ট) বিকেলে ওই গ্রাম থেকে তাদের আটক করা হয়।
আটককৃতরা হলেন রাধাকান্তপুর গ্রামের মইজুদ্দিন শেখের ছেলে আরসাদ আলী (৫৫), বজলুর রহমানের স্ত্রী ফেরদৌসী খাতুন (৪১), তরিকুল ইসলামের স্ত্রী নয়ন মালা (২৪), সোহেল রানার স্ত্রী রূপালি আক্তার (৩৪), ইয়ারুল ইসলামের স্ত্রী জোসনা (৩৫), আসাদ আলীর স্ত্রী সাফিয়া খাতুন (৪০)।
মেহেরপুর সদর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) শাহ দারা খাঁন জানান, রাধাকান্তপুর গ্রামের ময়েজ উদ্দিনের ছেলে আরশাদ আলীর বাড়িতে জামায়াত কর্মীদের গোপন বৈঠক চলছে এমন সংবাদে সদর থানাপুলিশের একটি দল আরশাদ আলীর বাড়িতে অভিযান চালায়। এ সময় ৬ জনকে আটক করে থানায় নিয়ে আসা হয়। তাদের জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ চলছে।
