মঙ্গলবার বেলা দুপুরে উপজেলা পরিষদ চত্ত্বরে করোনায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত চা দোকানি এবং কাজ হারিয়ে কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়া কয়েকটি অস্বচ্ছল পরিবারের মাঝে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার উপহার হিসাবে খাদ্য সামগ্রী বিতরণ করা হয়। খাদ্য সামগ্রী হিসাবে ১০ কেজি চাল, ১ কেজি ডাল, ১ লিটার ভোজ্যতেল, ১ কেজি লবন ও একটি করে সবান বিতরণ করেন উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার (ইউএনও) আব্দুল্যাহ আল মামুন। এসময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন, সহকারী কমিশনার (ভূমি) সোহরাব হোসেন।
খাদ্য সহায়তা নিতে আসা কয়েকজন উপকারভোগী বলেন, কেউ দর্জি, কেউ ক্ষুদে দোকানি কেউ কেউ চা দোকান করে সংসার চালাতেন। বর্তমানে করোনা প্রতিরোধে লকডাউন চলমান থাকার কারনে আমাদের দোকান-পাট বন্ধ হয়ে কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়ি। ঘরে খাবার ছিলোনা অনেকের। সন্তানদের নিয়ে খুব দুশ্চিন্তায় ছিলাম। ইউএনও স্যার আমাদের ডেকে মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার উপহার হিসাবে এই খাদ্য সামগ্রী দিয়েছে। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর এই খাদ্য সহায়তা পেয়ে কিছু দিনের জন্য দুশ্চিন্তা দূর হলো। উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসারকে ধন্যবাদ এবং প্রধানমন্ত্রীর প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা জানান তাঁরা।
উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার (ইউএনও) আব্দুল্যাহ আল মামুন এ প্রতিবেদককে বলেন, করোনা ও লকডাউনের কারনে যারা কাজ হারিয়ে কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়েছে তাদের খোঁজ খবর নিয়ে মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার উপহার হিসাবে এ খাদ্য সহায়তা দেয়া হচ্ছে। এসব কর্মহীন ও অস্বচ্ছল পরিবারের খাদ্য সহায়তা নিশ্চিত করতে বিতরণ কার্যক্রম চলমান থাকবে।
