স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা গেছে, উপজেলার গাজীপুর বন্দরের বাসিন্ধা মোঃ মোতালেব মৃধার পুত্র মিঠু মৃধা, কন্যা রেহেনা বেগম ও তার নাতিন শাকিল মৃধার সাথে পশ্চিম গাজীপুর গ্রামের মাওলানা মোঃ ফোরকান মুছুল্লীর বন্দরের মন্দিরের পাশে একটি দোকান ঘরের জমি নিয়ে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে বিরোধ চলে আসছে। গোপনে ওই বিরোধিয় জমিতে মিঠু মৃধা ও শাকিল মৃধা ঘর তুলতে গেলে ফোরকান মুছুল্লী তাদের বাঁধা দেয়। এ বিষয় নিয়ে স্থাণীয় গন্যমান্য ব্যক্তিবর্গ ও বাজার কমিটির লোকজন একাধিকবার শালিশ বৈঠক করলের অদ্যবদি এর কোন ফয়সালা হয়নি।
আজ (শুক্রবার) সকাল সাড়ে ১১ টার দিকে ওই বিরোধিয় জমিতে মিঠু মৃধা ও শাকিল মৃধা পুনঃরায় জোরপূর্বক ঘর তুলতে গেলে মাওলানা মোঃ ফোরকান মুছুল্লী ও তার লোকজন এতে বাঁধা প্রদান করে। এর কিছুক্ষণ পরে মাওলানা মোঃ ফোরকান মুছুল্লী গাজীপুর বন্দরের হাজী রুহুল আমিনের কাপড়ের দোকানের সামনে যায়।
এ সময় তার প্রতিপক্ষ মিঠু মৃধা ও শাকিল মৃধা ও তার লোকজন এসে তাকে অশ্রাব্য ভাষায় গালাগাল করতে থাকে। উভয় পক্ষের মধ্যে কথা কাটাকাটি হয় এবং স্থাণীয়রা আবার তাদের মিমাংসাও করে দেয়। এর কিছুক্ষণ পরে মিঠু মৃধা ও শাকিল মৃধার নেতৃত্বে ১০/১২জন সন্ত্রাসী এসে মাওলানা মোঃ ফোরকান মুছুল্লীকে দেশীয় অস্ত্র দা ও চাপাতি দিয়ে হাত, বুক ও পিঠে কুপিয়ে মারাত্মক রক্তাক্ত জখম করে চলে যায়। এ সময় গুরুত্বর আহত অবস্থায় স্থানীয়রা তাকে উদ্ধার করে চিকিৎসার জন্য পটুয়াখালী মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যায়। অবস্থা গুরুত্বর হওয়ায় ওই হাসপাতালের কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক তাকে বরিশাল শেবাচিম হাসপাতালে প্রেরণ করেন।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শি মোটরসাইকেল চালক জহির আহমেদ বলেন, গাজীপুর বন্দরের একটি দোকানের জমি নিয়ে মিঠু মৃধা, শাকিল মৃধার সাথে মাওলানা ফোরকান মুছুল্লীর বিরোধ চলে আসছে। আজ সকালে তাদের মধ্যে কথা কাটাকাটি হয়ে পরে স্থানীয় লোকজন উভয়ের মধ্যে মিমাংসা করে দেন। এর কিছুক্ষণ পরে বেলা সাড়ে ১১ টার দিকে হাজী রুহুল আমিন কাপড়ের দোকানের সামনে বসে মোতালেব মৃধার ছোট ছেলে মিঠু মৃধা, কন্যা রেহেনা ও তার নাতিন শাকিল মৃধাসহ আরো ১০/১৫ জন সহযোগীদের নিয়ে ফোরকান মাওলানাকে কুপিয়ে রক্তাক্ত ও জখম করে।
গাজীপুর বন্দরের হাবিবুর রহমান বলেন, মোতালেব মৃধার পুত্র মিঠু মৃধা একজন চিহ্নিত সন্ত্রাসী ও মাদকাশক্ত। সে বিগত দিনে একাধিক সন্ত্রাসী কার্যকলাপ সাথে সরাসরি জড়িত ছিলো জানায়।
এ বিষয়ে অভিযুক্ত শাকিল মৃধা ও তার পিতা মোঃ মোতালেব মৃধার ব্যবহৃত মুঠোফোনে একাধিকবার কল দিলেও সে ফোন রিসিফ করেননি।
আমতলী থানা ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মোঃ শাহআলম হাওলাদার বলেন, এ বিষয়ে কোন অভিযোগ পাইনি। অভিযোগ পেলে তদন্তপূর্বক আইনগত ব্যবস্থা নেয়া হবে।
