ভারতে করোনার নতুন ভ্যারিয়েন্ট ছড়িয়ে পড়ায় সংক্রমণ প্রতিরোধে মালয়েশিয়ায় বাংলাদেশিদের প্রবেশে নিষেধাজ্ঞা দেওয়া হয়েছে। তবে এ তালিকায় বাংলাদেশ ছাড়াও পাকিস্তান, নেপাল ও শ্রীলংকা রয়েছে।
বুধবার এক বিবৃতিতে এ কথা জানান দেশটির সিনিয়র মন্ত্রী (নিরাপত্তা) দাতুক সেরি ইসমাইল সাবরি ইয়াকুব।
তিনি জানিয়েছেন, এ নিষেধাজ্ঞায় সব ক্যাটাগরি অন্তর্ভুক্ত রয়েছে। এর আগে অধিক সংক্রমণের দেশ হিসাবে বাংলাদেশসহ বেশ কয়েকটি দেশের নাগরিকের ওপর মালয়েশিয়ায় প্রবেশে নিষেধাজ্ঞা দেওয়া হয়েছিল।
সম্প্রতি ভারত থেকে আসা এক ব্যাক্তির শরীরে কোভিড-১৯ ভ্যারিয়েন্ট শনাক্তের পর ভারতের ওপর নিষেধাজ্ঞা দেওয়া হয়। এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় ভারতের পার্শ্ববর্তী দেশগুলোর ওপরও নিষেধাজ্ঞা দেওয়া হয়েছে বলে জানান মন্ত্রী।
